6.11 Catalyzing a Movement
Annie Rappeport, Ph.D., describes herself as an academic, an artist, and an advocate. In her role as an academic, her primary field is international peace studies. She is a bridge builder, a researcher and a teacher. As an artist, she is a formally trained theater artist, musician and graphic designer. She has incorporated her love of the arts into her research, teaching, and advocacy work. As an advocate, she brings passion to everything she does, having held elected and appointed roles that have helped her serve her communities, especially within the University of Maryland system. She also serves on the Semester at Sea Alumni Council, which advocates for the enriching power of international and experiential education and the board of the International Listening Association, which advocates for listening skills in fields such as education and healthcare. Annie lives in the Charlottesville, Virginia area with her husband and twin daughters.
