'Lost Boy' finds a better life in America
Thomas Chan escaped from Sudan, as a young boy during his country's long and brutal civil war. Over the next decade he survived extreme hunger and thirst, violence and brutality, conscription into military forces, homelessness, refugee camps, and the war. Eventually he was able to immigrate to the United States, where he came to settle in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Today he is an honors college student and holds a job that enables him to support himself. Thomas, one of the former "Lost Boys of Sudan", as so many are known, is making a new life for himself and he is proud to tell his story.
