Spending time with Michael and Tom of Someone To Tell It To has helped me understand God more accurately. Our time together has made me realize in the midst of my struggles and depression that God’s feelings toward me are nothing short of love and commitment.  I’m thankful for this ministry that personally shows people that God’s love is stronger than human difficulties.

     Brian

Brian is one of the many people we speak with regularly.  His struggle has been with shame.  At times it’s eaten him up inside.  In our sharing together we have explored with Brian the source of his shame, guilt and feelings of unworthiness.  The truth is we all live in some way with those feelings.  We hear it virtually every day.  Brian is definitely not alone.

And no one has to be.

All of us need a safe place to explore the issues that cause us shame.   EVERYONE NEEDS Someone To Tell It To.  That’s why we’re here.

This has been an extremely busy and positive summer for us.  Here is the top 10 listing of our activities:
1.     We made over 200 connections with people needing to share and explore challenges in their lives – such as loneliness, rejection, abuse, addiction, grief, fear, pain and spiritual dis-ease.  These connections were here in person in central PA, as well as through social media in places such as Nebraska, South Korea, California, New York, Uganda, Texas, and North Carolina.
2.     We gained new connections doing an interview on radio station WJTL FM 90.3, Lancaster, PA
3.     We were one of six non-profits chosen to be a team project with Leadership Harrisburg for 2013 – 2014.  Leadership Harrisburg will be assigning a team of community leaders to produce a video with us on the art of listening.
4.     Penn State College of Medicine Department of Humanities is exploring with us the possibility of incorporating our expertise on compassion, listening and connecting with people more deeply and personally in their student curriculum.
5.     Pinnacle Health System, Harrisburg, PA, is exploring a similar option with us for their staff, volunteers and patients.
6.     We presented our mission to the Colonial Park (Harrisburg, PA) Rotary and gained several new connections and supporters.
7.     We spoke at various churches, reaching over 750 in attendance.
8.     Connections were also made in Christchurch, New Zealand, where a series of devastating earthquakes over the last two years has decimated the city and demoralized its citizens.  We are awaiting a call from the city’s mayor to discuss ways in which we may help to hear the stories of those who need to share about their fears, losses and pain.
9.     Our book proposal for Someone To Tell It To: Stories of Hope, Joy, Compassion and Grace is currently with an agent in Los Angeles and we are awaiting word on it being picked up for publication in 2014.
10.  We are exploring the possibility of hosting a radio program to provide an opportunity for people to call in to discuss their challenges and cares.

We want to thank everyone – deeply and profoundly – for your prayers and your support.  Because of them we have received $6,000 toward our goal of raising $20,000 by year’s end.  If you can help us reach our financial goal, please donate today.  Remember, we don’t turn anyone away because of their inability to afford to pay for our services.  The gifts we receive make it possible for us to continue this mission and serve thousands of people around the world each year.  Please continue to pray for these opportunities before us.

What you guys are doing is very powerful.  I see your passion and your giftedness, especially when, in today’s world, so many don’t have someone to tell it to.

Finally, we are very excited to announce that Dr. Anthony (Tony) Campolo, internationally renowned speaker, author, sociologist, pastor, social activist and passionate person of faith, is scheduled to be the speaker at our 2014 annual fundraising dinner, on Friday, March 7, 2014, from 6:00 – 9:00p.m., in Hershey.
He will share with us about listening compassionately, which is at the heart of our mission.

We close with another testimony from another person with whom we regularly connect:

Thank you for being “healing people” in my life.
