Our Values

At the heart of Someone To Tell It To’s mission are the values and beliefs we hold about human beings and about meeting our common human needs. We keep these values before us in everything we do and everything we convey. These values inform how we act and react. They inspire every decision and every service we provide. They strengthen us to keep going when circumstances are hard and when the act of listening well and with intention and compassion are challenging. They enable us to be empathetic and caring when not to be would be easier. These are our fundamental values:

Someone To Tell It To works to help create human connection. In a world in which loneliness and disconnection are at epidemic proportions, we help people to experience deeper relationships with one another, including with themselves.

Human connection and deeper relationships develop because of what we believe about one another. We need to believe that everyone has worth and value, and that everyone’s life has significant meaning. We believe that we can learn from everyone, and we embrace that belief with everyone we meet.

We believe that the first and most vital act of creating connection is to listen to one another without distraction and judgment, and with deep intention. We also educate others in the practice and art of intentional listening. We do this through our books and blogs, our presentations and trainings, and our podcast. 

Our aim is to help the world to listen so that our connections with one another can deepen, strengthen, and become more meaningful. These connections are a human need that all of us have in common.
